The Coaticook Historical Society has as it's mission to collect and conserve different written documents, photographs, newspapers and books pertaining to Coaticook and it's history. To gather all this information concerning the beginnings of Coaticook and all it's different stages of it's evolution constitutes a true treasure for our region.Which is then accessable to all. The territory targeted, englobes Coaticook and the MRC of Coaticook. What better way to mount the conservation of our regional heritage.
The Coaticook Historical Society's mandate to collect and distribute this information, is essential. It is in 1996, that the first committee was formed and that The Coaticook Historical Society came to be. Different vanes and venues were put into place and exploited to contact the public at large. Exhibits are held periodically, which gives a chance to the people of the region to become more aware of the different periods of their regional history, by well developed themes.
The Breakfast Meetings, provide us with an historical event, which then developes by the many interventions and additions made by the public attending the meeting. A journal of sorts, "Le Ccourant", is published periodicalt and presents us with different articles in accordance with stories of the past.
The Historical Society is the "Keeper" of our past and wishes to be present in our futur.
